Artificial Intelligence (AI) seems to be getting a lot of column inches and airtime at the moment. Everywhere you turn there is an article for or against. One of the interesting webinars I’ve watched recently is TalentFinders.com in conjunction with Advanced Resource Managers who have successfully piloted and rolled out Pocket Recruiter with some interesting and impressive results. The highlights were;
- CV’s sent were up by 52%
- Interviews up by 25%
- Hours on the phone up by 40%
- Candidate calls up by 26%
In the context of agency recruitment this is significant. Especially when you look at the 2016 v 2017 comparisons with an increase of 15% permanent and 18% in contract placements (with a reduced number of vacancies logged).
The business case to embrace AI is significant in this case – recruiters spend better quality time, building relationships with suitable candidates whilst the Robot (AI) uses machine learning to identify and prioritise the most suitable candidates. But would this be enough for you to seriously consider piloting an AI platform?
The campaigns and organisations that I presently work with, got me thinking about how AI could benefit them. I’d had exploratory conversations with Mya and looked at how we could introduce and roll this out and was really impressed with the product’s flexibility, but the standout feature for me was how it could improve the candidate experience by becoming their Recruitment Assistant – the candidates very own Alexa or Siri. This would allow my team to cease having to manage an extremely busy email inbox full of recruitment enquiries – on average 150 to 200 per week. It would allow them to focus their time on providing a high touch service to candidates in the process as well as using Mya to prioritise calls to the most suitable candidates.
Whatever you think about AI, it does have a pivotal role to play in the future of agency, in-house or RPO/MSP recruitment teams. However I believe the key here is to use the technology to benefit the candidate experience and recruiter efficiency and effectiveness.
