Beyond the clown: Revolutionary tactics in talent acquisition

Beyond the clown: Revolutionary tactics in talent acquisition

I had a bit of a throwback moment yesterday. I was reminiscing about a cheeky yet brilliant recruitment campaign from a few years back. It got me thinking about the sheer power of knowing your audience and crafting a message that truly hits home.

Royal Recruitment: Burger King’s Crown Jewel of Talent Attraction

Remember Burger King’s “Work for a King, not a clown” campaign? Absolute genius, wasn’t it? It playfully jabbed at their competition. It also perfectly captured their brand voice. It spoke directly to potential recruits. That’s the sweet spot we’re all aiming for in talent acquisition.

It reminded me how crucial it is to really understand who we’re talking to in our recruitment efforts. Whether it’s a job advert, an employer branding campaign, or even just a LinkedIn post. Knowing your audience can make all the difference.

Just Do It, Differently: Nike’s Bold Stride Towards Social Justice

This got me pondering other memorable campaigns. Nike’s iconic “Just Do It” springs to mind, of course. But what about their more recent “For Once, Don’t Do It” campaign addressing racial injustice? It showed how a well-established brand pivoted their message. They used their message to tackle crucial societal issues. They encouraged people to take a stand against racism.

I’m curious – what campaigns or taglines have stuck with you over the years? Maybe it’s one that made you laugh, or one that made you think differently about a brand or issue. Even better, has a recruitment campaign ever made you seriously consider a career move?

After all, in our world of talent acquisition and employer branding, there’s always something to learn from these marketing masterstrokes.

Now, I’m off to run some more employee focus groups as we look to help define Domino’s Pizza employer brand.
